Plea negotiations and charge bargaining
Plea negotiation is the process where defence lawyers negotiate with relevant prosecuting authorities with the primary aim of having charges reduced, or even discontinued.
Doing this early in the Criminal Proceedings will save you the costs and stress involved in such proceedings. On occasion your matter can be discontinued altogether and at other times charges reduced; and in the event that the prosecution does not discontinue or reduce the charges, we will nevertheless be in a good position to represent you in your criminal charge no matter what you elect to plead; and we will advise you accordingly on your options and likely outcomes so that you get to make an informed decision.
Bear in mind, a proper negotiation can be undertaken with the prosecution at any stage of the criminal proceedings, but early negotiation attempt has several advantages, including but not limited to saving you on legal fees and more importantly sparing you the stress of a criminal charge.
At Rebus Legal we aim to achieve the best possible outcomes in your Criminal matter and we have a good track record for negotiating positive outcomes for clients.
